Jaymi and Johnathan went on a cruise this past week and Grandma
and Grandpa had the pleasure of taking care of Baby Natalie.
I can now write this “guest blog” as Natalie is home. You see, caring
for a baby is a full time job. The energy we have as grandparents
isn’t quite what it was when we were parents. But we managed and had
some funny moments too. For the first few days, we were in Tampa. Did
I mention that Jaymi and Johnathan have their house up for sale? The
realtor called twice to show the house with 30 minutes' notice. Sounds
simple, but first there is the quick straightening up of the house,
two dogs have to be loaded in the car, and of course Baby Natalie and
her stuff. Needless to say, we were happy to leave for Cocoa on
Monday. I might add that you definitely need a large SUV or van to
transport baby stuff. I won’t list the items, but it filled up our
vehicle (and everything was needed). On the way back to Cocoa we
stopped in Orlando at Ikea. Natalie was
amazed. She couldn’t stop looking at the ceilings, floors and all the
colorful products. All this stimulation made for a challenge getting
her to sleep that night.
Here in Cocoa Natalie was a big hit (including with the neighbor’s
dog). The dog got so excited seeing Natalie that it jumped on their
couch and peed all over it. The neighbors said they never saw their
dog do that before, but assured me it was a sign of sheer delight. I
took Natalie to the park, bank, grocery store, post office,
everywhere, and she was a real magnet for getting me help of all
kinds. Natalie is just one cute baby (not a biased opinion either).
Everywhere we went she was a big hit and smiled at everyone.
I have to compliment Jaymi and Johnathan for doing such a wonderful
job raising Natalie. She is a happy baby with a great disposition. I
also really understand and appreciate the hard work that Natalie’s Mom
and Dad put into her upbringing. This little girl is one lucky baby.
I guess the thing we miss most now that Natalie is back in Tampa is
those morning wakeup smiles. They just melt you. Thanks Jaymi and
Johnathan for sharing her with us. We will see you soon. Good luck
with the house sale too!!!
***Oh Grandma, you bring tears to my eyes. Thanks so much for taking such good care of our baby. We love you.***
