Natalie loves to stand up with her hands on the ottoman in her room. She can scoot around it sometimes, though I wouldn't exactly say she's consciously walking. Our pediatrician thinks she will walk before she crawls, which is apparently fairly common these days as babies spend less time on their stomachs than they used to. When she's feeling daring, she will take one or both hands off the ottoman and try to stand up unassisted. Sometimes she'll last a few seconds but usually she ends up on her butt. Practice makes perfect! The picture of Natalie eating her sock shows off the little pigtails that my friend Kelly put in her hair. Kelly babysits Natalie often and she loves to doll her up. She has two daughters of her own and they just love "Baby Natalie," as she is known at their house. Whenever I see her 3-year-old daughter Katie, she asks me "Is Baby Natalie coming over today?" It is too cute!
Now, the Gasparilla pictures. Johnathan ran the 5K race Saturday and Natalie and I were on the sidelines to cheer him on. It was an absolutely gorgeous day too! He was one of more than 8,000 participants in the 5K and it took about 10 minutes for all the runners to pass the starting line. Although he hasn't been training for it, he finished the race in just over 28 minutes, more than one minute better than his time last year. You can see him in the first picture crossing the finish line if you look closely - he's wearing a red shirt with his arms up in the air. Go Dada! After the race, Johnathan hit the Smoothie King tent several times for free smoothies and we headed over to the race expo. On the way, we had our picture taken with Tony the Tiger. Natalie seemed mildly interested. She was much more excited by "Buccified Burt," a man who we often see at events around town. He's a big fan of the Buccaneers, in case you couldn't tell. Later that day, we went to our favorite pub, Four Green Fields. The owner came over to us and gave Natalie a free t-shirt, just in time for St. Pat's!
Next weekend, Johnathan and Natalie will come to cheer me on at the annual YMCA Spin-Off. I do it every year, even last year when I was fairly far along in my pregnancy. This year I'll be riding for two hours. It should be a lot of fun!
